Even after Meghan Markle gave birth to the royal baby on May 6, people had tons of questions about pretty much everything that the labor entailed. However, Markle and her husband Prince Harry are known for being ultra-private, so it seemed that a few details would remain a secret. But for anyone who was dying for more intel, Baby Archie's newly released birth certificate has a couple of interesting revelations.
The certificate was released on Friday and it lists the baby's name as Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, which Markle and Prince Harry announced on Instagram. However, where exactly Archie was born had been a mystery. Rumor had it that Markle had been thinking about having a home birth, while others thought she would just go to St Mary's Hospital in London, where Kate Middleton had her three children. The birth certificate tell us that Markle and Prince Harry actually opted for Portland Hospital, a private hospital that is located in the West End of London.
A spokeswoman for the Portland Hospital told CNN in a statement, "Huge congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the birth of baby Archie… For reasons of patient confidentiality, we are unable to provide any comment or information."
Additionally, the certificate shows that Prince Harry registered the birth 11 days after it happened on May 17. He had clearly been ecstatic, and he'd had a lot going on between royal engagements and trips to other countries, but it seems he found the time to register the certificate himself.
But the coolest part of it all might be what Markle's occupation appears as. Most people know her as the Duchess of Sussex, but on the document, her job is officially listed as "Princess of the United Kingdom." We can't get over how official-and very royal-that title sounds.
Still, Markle seems pretty content to just be known as a mom for now." During her first interview after giving birth, she shared just how thrilled she was about Archie.
“It's magic. It's pretty amazing. I have the best two guys in the world, so I'm really happy,” she said.
